Baltimore Ravens: Joe Flacco vs. Ravens Week 1?

Man, how great is it to have Baltimore Ravens football back? Our beloved Ravens found themselves in the win column once again last week, beating the Tennessee Titans 23-10 and giving Baltimore and NFL record 21 consecutive preseason victories. It’s a dynasty, baby!

As the team gets geared up to fly out to Arizona to take on the Cardinals, what is going on with the Flock in the Twitter-sphere? Let’s take a peek on this Wednesday edition of Out to Lunch!

There were plenty of stellar performances during the Ravens’ victory over the Titans, but undrafted wide receiver Shemar Bridges stood out in a great way, including this beautiful 38-yard touchdown reception:

With how thin Baltimore is at the wide receiver spot, could Bridges secure himself a spot on the final 53-man roster? The guys over at Locked On HBCU certainly think he will:

It is entirely within the realm of possibilities for Bridges to impress enough to stick around for a while. Outside of the usual suspects – Rashod Bateman, Devin Duvernay, James Proche, and Tylan Wallace – the opportunity for the fifth and potentially sixth spot on the wide receiver depth chart is wide open. Bridges has made an outstanding case for himself thus far, and a continued dominance in the preseason will only solidify his chances of making the roster. As it stands, Bridges’ biggest obstacles will seemingly be Slade Bolden, Jaylon Moore, and Binjimen Victor.

Will the streak continue this week? Odds makers certainly believe that it will:

The Baltimore Ravens opened -4 at Arizona on Sunday and immediately moved to -7. They are -300 on the moneyline.

Not that there will be a lot to look forward to for a preseason game when it comes to big-name players, but the Ravens will surely be playing for something for the simple matter of wanting to continue their preseason win streak. Betting against Baltimore definitely feels like a bad move at this point.

How are the three most pivotal players for the Baltimore Ravens in 2022?

The Baltimore Ravens look to rebound in 2022 but will need help from their most important positions. Here are three Ravens who will be pivotal to their success this season. #RavensFlock https://t.co/CF55ElqgF8

According to Nick price from Flock the North, the three guys highlighted are Lamar Jackson, James Proche, and Odafe Oweh. While Jackson and Oweh’s inclusions are certainly expected, Proche’s listing is intriguing. The third-year man out of SMU has a great chance to earn some major playing time this season and the only thing that will stop him is himself. If Proche can put together the season that we believe he is capable of, the Ravens may have themselves an underrated receiving game in 2022.

What do you think, Flock?

Will the Baltimore Ravens get back into the playoff picture this season? 🤔

I’m pretty sure we all believe in the Ravens to get back to the postseason, but, as we have come to learn, success is anything but guaranteed in the NFL.

Do you like fantasy football? Do you like JK Dobbins? Well then, you might be interested in drafting him this year!

Baltimore Ravens RB JK Dobbins is a fantasy steal.

-AVG 1.02 Fantasy Points per touch in 2020 -All it would take is for Dobbins to see 206+ touches for a top 10 finish an 210+ pts -Currently being drafted in the 5th round as RB 24 on Yahoo

There are a lot of factors that go into fantasy football, but one of the biggest is average draft position (ADP). With Dobbins’ ADP having him somewhere in the fifth round of most fantasy leagues, he presents some awesome value and the potential to be a massive steal to win your league! Definitely think about picking him up in your drafts if you haven’t already!

While it’s still nearly a month away, the Ravens take on the New York Jets in Week 1. Gang Green quarterback Zach Wilson’s knee injury from last week, while not season-ending, may end up holding him out of that game:

The recovery plan for #Jets QB Zach Wilson is complicated. There is the bone bruise — which needs rest. And the meniscus, which was trimmed. Rests means off his feet. The team won’t put him on the field until he’s 100%, meaning it may not be Week 1. That said, overall good news

— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) August 16, 2022

Why does this matter? Because if that’s the case, then the Ravens would likely face off against former Super Bowl MVP and team legend Joe Flacco.

With Zach Wilson’s knee surgery today now considered a success and with the team not willing to bring him back until he’s fully ready, Jets’ QB Joe Flacco is in line to start the regular-season opener vs. his former Ravens team.

If it’s Joe Flacco vs. the Ravens …

Flacco would become the 2nd QB in NFL history to start a season opener against a team they previously won a Super Bowl with as the starter, per @EliasSports.

The only other time this occurred was in 2014, when Peyton Manning faced the Colts

— Jamison Hensley (@jamisonhensley) August 16, 2022

Apparently Flacco was looking sharp during yesterday’s training session, too:

Joe Flacco had a “Joe Cool” kind of practice — 14-for-17, 3 TD, plus a 2-point pass. Sacked twice. Made some exceptional throws. Still slinging at 37. #Jets

If that’s the case and “Joe Cool” indeed has to face off against his former team to start the 2022 season, may the best man win…
