New bike season is upon us, and that means that we're going to be seeing quite a few new releases in the coming months as the major manufacturers announce the 2013 goodies. First to the plate is KTM, and judging by the major revisions they are throwing at their new model year machines, the Austrians don't plan on slowing down anytime soon.

Across the board, the 2013 KTMs will get a fresh look via updated bodywork similar to what we've already seen on the Dungey replica/ 450 SX-F Factory Edition. Four-stroke models are getting new frames and updates to the triple clamps, both of which are said to be more rigid in order to improve rideability. A newly reinforced swingarm will accept a 5mm larger rear axle, and suspension settings have been revised for all models, along with-wait for it-bold new graphics. As expected, the 450 SX-F follows in the steps of the already-release 450 SX-F Factory Edition with a revised engine that's based off of the 450 EXC.

One of the major highlights to KTM's SX-F/ XC-F lineup is the inclusion of an all-new 250cc four-stroke engine that will grace both models. Compared to last year these powerplants will feature larger intake and outlet ports, new camshafts and timing, redesigned cylinders and all-new, die-cast cases, leading to a claimed five horsepower increase in power. The 250cc thumpers will be electric-start only with no kick option. These machines will also see a significant reduction in weight thanks to the new triple clamp, frame, linkage and engine designs. The nearly two-gallon SX-style fuel tanks now have a new inner screw-type cap, with four-strokes getting a more efficient in-tank fuel filter. New fuel pump/ hose routing for the four-strokes allow the SX fuel tanks to be compatible with EXC tanks, allowing for more volume and increased mileage. Additionally, a new quick-release micro screen makes servicing the in-line filter a snap.

In addition to the new bodywork, the 2013 KTMs will feature black spokes and new 827 Renthal Fatbar handlebars. Noise reduction and power delivery are improved via new header pipes for all four-strokes, and the 250 and 350 SX-F and XC-F models will feature KTM's HRS resonators. Radiator durability will be better than last year thanks to a new alloy with a stronger overall structure. For 2013, Keihin's Engine Management System has been reworked with a larger throttle body and an idle adjuster that is now isolated from the cold start button (located on the back of the throttle body). On the two-stroke front, the 200 EXC has a new elextric starter similar to that of the 250/300 XC-W, as well as a new cylinder head. The 250 SX/ XC models will come fitted with a lighter, easier-to-pull DDS clutch and an improved V-Force reed block.
