The latest creation to roll out of the Jerry Bickel Race Cars shop in Moscow Mills, Missouri belongs to none other than NMCA and PDRA standout, Steve Summers. Summers, who won the 2014 NMCA Pro Mod championship and was runner-up in 2015, has not been as worried about chasing points so far here in 2016 and now, we know why.

This gorgeous 2016 Chevrolet Camaro was constructed to be a lightweight, multi-purpose drag racing machine, legal for numerous sanctioning bodies. His previous car, a 1970.5 Camaro, has been a best of 3.78 in the eighth-mile and a 5.65 out the back door at speeds well over 250 miles per hour. The new ’16 model will be powered by a brand new, all-billet 522 cubic inch, CFE headed wedge engine, built by Jeff Jasiek at Jasiek Racing Engines.

Turbo By Garrett is back on board to provide a set of 98mm twin turbochargers for NMCA Xtreme Pro Mod competition, while they will provide a set of 94s for PDRA Pro Boost. PTP Racing tuning superstars Patrick Barnhill and Jason Lee will return to handle the tuning services with the Haltech Elite 2500 engine management system.

With all of that horsepower, it has to be backed with some serious strength. Summers and PTP chose a Liberty Extreme Pro Mod 3-speed transmission, paired with a trusty PTC torque converter to apply the most horsepower through the drivetrain and to the pavement using the huge rear slicks mounted on the rear.

“The car was originally built for PDRA Pro Extreme but I really like the competition in Pro Boost so we plan to stay in that class for a while and continue racing with one of our favorite organizations, the NMCA, in Xtreme Pro Mod,” mentioned Summers. While there’s still plenty to be done, Summers Motorsports hopes to have the car out in late August or early September to begin the initial testing process and get the new lighter, more aerodynamic and modern Camaro hot rod all lined out before hitting some of the top races remaining on the 2016 drag racing schedule.
